The downside of this hand planer is it did not come with a chip bag and this meant that the wood shavings were not being collected and thus making quite a mess in the woodworking shop.

This would be one of the most expensive hand-held planers is on the market today so you would expect that its performance would be the best. The only negative thing was about the actual weight of the machine, but then you must expect the machine of the size to the heavier and more difficult to operate and the smaller handheld planes.

For anyone willing to pay quite a bit of money to get a first-class machine, and I can certainly recommend the Makita 1806B Hand Planer, it is an excellent machine but at this price probably only a viable purchase by a professional woodwork who needs an extra wide and powerful hand-held planer.
